Golf Course Design Philosophy

Arthur Hills’ signature design philosophy for his golf courses includes an artful combination of challenging, yet fun and stunning, yet strategic architectures. The effects of these masterful combinations are demonstrated in how the Willoughby golf course engages both the body and the mind. Our course offers four sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. From the championship tees, the course plays to 6,701 yards total. Shot selection is varied from the traditionally challenging obstacles of lakes and at least 55 bunkers placed throughout the course. Strategically situated to ensure players stay focused, the Willoughby golf course can keep even the most avid player on their toes.

Nature-Based Design

Known for building courses that are both “aesthetically pleasing and strategically sound”, Arthur Hills also favors the traditional and seeks to honor the existing character of the site. Hills kept the area’s natural beauty at the forefront of his design by framing the course between towering trees and natural wetlands. By using the palms, palmettos and beautiful homes in his design, Hills takes the course to the next level by incorporating the custom character that makes Willoughby distinctive.
