If there was one word to summarize the Member lifestyle at Willoughby Golf Club, it would be “energetic.” With a growing Membership and a reputation for excellence, it’s no wonder Willoughby has expanded its Club leadership team. Three new staff Members will continue to elevate the Member experience. The 25,000 square-foot Clubhouse is the epicenter of activity, with dining, social lounges, a resort-style pool, fitness center, and more all designed to allow Members to enjoy a laidback social lifestyle. The Clubhouse, however, would not be the social hub of this private community without a full team of Club professionals to assist with daily operations. Let’s meet these newest additions to the Willoughby family.
Joel Laverdure, Food and Beverage Director
As Food & Beverage Director since December 2021, Joel brings world-class experience to the dining venues at Willoughby Golf Club. Joel found his passion for the service industry in the South of France working in a hotel in Cannes. He then decided to bring his talents to American soil, working at country clubs and hotels to provide legendary dining experiences, including the Ritz-Carlton in West Palm Beach, Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton, and Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach Gardens.
At Willoughby, Joel is responsible for the overall food and beverage operations at the Club, coordinating the entire dining experience and ensuring Member satisfaction at every turn. In his free time, he loves to play golf, take wildlife pictures, and enjoy long walks on the beach.
“One thing that I think really sets Willoughby apart from other clubs in the area is that at Willoughby, we do not say ‘No,'” said Joel. “We try our very best to please the Membership with any request.”
Zachary Krumins, Dining Room Manager
Surrounded by the restaurant business from a young age, Zachary has a lifelong passion for the service industry. From sports bars to country clubs, Zachary has been exposed to all aspects of the food and beverage industry and brings over 15 years of experience to Willoughby’s team. He has worked at Willoughby for two months now as the Dining Room Manager, ensuring that all dining room functions and events run smoothly.
Zachary is ready to jump in and help wherever needed, from serving and bartending to busing tables. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his wife, enjoy his 9-year-old daughter’s gymnastics events, and his 5-year-old son’s flag football or baseball games.
“Willoughby is such a close-knit community,” said Zachary. “They have so many activities and always have something going on even in the summer months. Our staff and service here are unmatched. I have met so many Willoughby team members that have been here for 10+ years, which really shows how much this Club cares.”
Claira Jenette, Catering Event Manager
Joining the Willoughby team three months ago as the Catering Event Manager, Claira oversees the coordination and execution of all the Club’s weddings, events, and galas. Growing up, her mother used to plan sword fishing tournaments from Miami to the Bahamas. Claira loved attending these events, instilling in her a passion for event planning.
At West Virginia University, she helped plan halftime events for her school’s sports gatherings, getting fans excited and interacting on the field. Since then, Claira has worked as a Hospitality Associate at Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa, and as an event coordinator at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. On her days off, everyone knows that Claira can be found at the beach or anywhere on the water.
“Everyone at Willoughby is so friendly and nice!” said Claira. “I feel so welcomed to work here and am greeted with smiles every day. My favorite Willoughby amenity would have to be the food. Chef Chris and his team do a spectacular job with each plate that comes out of the kitchen.”
A Welcoming Stuart Golf Club Community
Willoughby’s exceptional staff, however, is not the only aspect that Members appreciate. This private gated community remains the favorite of those seeking a Florida lifestyle that is active, social, and purposeful in the pursuit of celebrating the good life. Willoughby is also home to an 18-hole Arthur Hills designed championship golf course, a notable tennis program with five lighted Har-Tru courts, and two new pickleball courts. An active schedule of events creates a close-knit community that makes people feel at home as soon as they arrive.
Located on Florida’s Treasure Coast, Willoughby’s ideal location is just a short drive away from Downtown Stuart and 38 miles north of Palm Beach, both with shopping districts, fine dining, and cultural exhibitions to explore. Willoughby Golf Club offers 375 award-winning single-family neighborhood and estate homes with open views of tree-lined fairways, lakes, and preserves.
